Systems of Architectural Inquiry, Research Philosophy in Architectural Humanities and Critical Urban Studies

Dr. Mehan presented an invited talk titled “Research Philosophy in Architectural Humanities and Critical Urban Studies” for the graduate course ARCH 3515-001 & D01: Systems of Architectural Inquiry at the College of Architecture, Texas Tech University (TTU). The session explored the evolution of research paradigms in architecture and urbanism, emphasizing their relevance to contemporary academic practice. In this talk, Dr. Mehan provided an overview of how critical theory intersects with architectural humanities and urban studies. Using case studies from my work, Dr. Mehan demonstrated how philosophical perspectives can shape innovative architectural research, urging students to critically examine traditional methodologies and adopt forward-thinking approaches.
